There are three key elements of the Program for 2008:
- (Community Engagement Model) - In 2008 there are four Council partners piloting the "Local Government Model" in their communities. Local community and youth organisations and schools will work together with kids, and local businesses will contribute dollars to fund Microgrants. NAPCAN will educate Councils and local service providers on how to effectively engage with, and encourage participation by children and young people, thereby supporting implementation of social policy/community development initiatives.
- - funding community based projects initiated by children and young people to prevent child abuse and neglect in their local community.
- An inaugural was hosted by Rothschild Australia on 26th February. The purpose was to thank our current sponsors, and to showcase specific examples of KiDS CAN initiatives to other corporations.

The 2008 Awards have been announced. 15 excellent projects have received a grant. These were judged to be outstanding examples of the great initiatives that have come in this year from kids across NSW. Each project clearly met all of the criteria required. For those who missed out this year we will make contact with you after National Child Protection Week. MORE
