Communities for Children Murray Bridge- SA
Communities for Children
is funded through the Australian Government's Stronger Families and Communities Strategy. Children are at the centre of this approach and these initiatives focus on supporting the health and early development needs of young children 0 to 5 years, supporting parents and building and supporting child-friendly communities.

The Communities for Children Initiative in Murray Bridge held its local launch with a Family Fun Day on Sunday 21 st October 2007 at Johnstone Park , Murray Bridge. Despite the hot and windy conditions around 1000 people came along to join in the activities. The focus on the day was to increase the awareness of the Initiative by providing inter-active play opportunities for parents, carer's and children. There was kite making, sports activities, play-dough and art, a yellow brick road, petting zoo, kinder-gym, bouncing castle and much more. The most popular activities were kite making and artwork with many parents and caregivers working with children to create their masterpiece.

There were some official launch procedures to get through. Anglican Community Care Inc CEO, Rob Foggo and Member for Hammond Adrian Pederick welcoming everyone to the day and officially opening the Communities for Children Initiative. The Communities for Children Initiative hopes to be involved in many more events in the local region to encourage young families to come along and have some fun. This will be done by providing activities and entertainment for these young families, as well as making available facilities such as parent comfort areas, change and feeding zones.

Anglican Community Care Inc would like to thank our Community Partners, Lutheran Community Care, Murray Mallee Community Health Service and Centacare for their work on the Family Fun Day and the Initiative as a whole. Communities for Children is an Australian Government Initiative.
